Kosta Kulundzic

Kosta Kulundzic concentrates his work on belief and mysticism in our society. Modern society produces myths and heroes. It offers a priceless quantity of idols and images related to the worship. Kosta uses these images to paint very actual mystical characters, altered divinities, who seem closer to us.

It's been 40 years since the Monterey International Pop Festival launched the world into the summer of love, and this anniversary seems to be the one that is proving to be commemorative.

Reece Terris

Reece Terris about his work (02:39)
sorry volume is a bit low !

The primary focus of
Reece Terris artistic practice examines the way in which ingrained relationships and conditioned responses to constructed space are developed. He is interested in exploring how repetitive patterns in planning and design ultimately become subconscious cues for social conduct. His works alter the expected experiential qualities of a place through an amplification or shift in the primary function of the original design of a place. Terris’ work is intentionally overt and compels the viewer to question the way in which space is developed and used.

When Hiding Becomes Strategy - Liu Bolin

Is man animal?
The chameleon is equipped with a unique skill to change its body color to adapt to the surroundings for self preservation. The rattlesnake, similarly, buries larger part of its body in sand or in earth, not only to protect itself but also to secure a better chance for food. On the list can be found many other animals, such as the geckoes and beetles, that have learned to contend with their surroundings and their enemies in the long life-or-death struggle. Whether they can hide themselves successfully becomes the most vital to their survival.
Man is no animal, for he is deprived of any knowledge of self preservation.

Graeme Patterson

romancing the farm (2003) (03:21)

As a child I began experimenting with animation and creating miniature worlds. Now, as an emerging artist focusing on stop-motion animation and sculptural installation, I believe that my experience as a child is major reason why I feel so connected and comfortable with my work and process. The process of creating the puppets and sets for my animations directly comes from this childhood experimentation. I have gradually developed a process that is definitely original. This is an important part of my artistic practice.

James Rielly

1927 Cabaret

1927’s multiple award winning theatrical cabaret cleverly combines live music, performance and storytelling with films and animations. Using the aesthetic of silent film, a series of comic vignettes unfold in which the performers interact with the animations.
Hapless cats, marauding gingerbread men and cross dressing devils all make an appearance, not to mention the sinister twins and their misfortunate guests. The show has been compared to Shockheaded Peter, David Lynch and Edward Gorey with the charms of Weimar cabaret.

Liu Weijian

A lot of people, a lot of goods, a lot of places, many many things, and many many events… my daily life is usually confuse. Ignorant and passive are my reactions. Habit is a term tightly fasten by the side of my mouth. All of this is only an idle and starving waiting.
As a certain specific call sounds, I will feel very inspired. Under a certain dawn, I will get a moment of peace and awareness. In a certain space, I will hunger for certain things and illusions. I regard these rare moments as the real world, which expands in parallel with us. This moment isn’t a point of intersection, it is a calling possibility.

Domestic Safari

Home as a wild place
By Anders Weberg and Robert Willim

Domestic Safari is a journey through three different homes in three different European countries.
The film and it's soundtrack is based entirely on manipulated recordings from the three places in Finland, Italy and Sweden.
This audiovisual excursion aims to call forth imaginaries and a profane illumination that disorient and estrange the materialities of everyday reality.

Harima Midori

Harima Midori’s process involves making photocopies from print media on archival paper, which she then shapes into three-dimensional sculpture or framed pieces. The muted black and white tones of the photocopies appear as brush strokes; in a sense, she is “painting” with the paper.
Midori draws her inspiration from a longing to connect with nature. “I grew up in the suburbs in Japan. I could only see real nature in pictures. It felt artificial since it was always a visual experience,” Midori explained.
