Judith Fegerl

Judith Fegerls contemporary artworks draw a fine line between art and scientific enquiry. Her technical explorations of vision and sensory experiences that influence our understanding of all environments are the focus of her minimal installations.

Tom Fabritius

Rosson Crow

Rosson Crow's slick and vibrant paintings of proverbial environments pulse with saturated tension. Crow uses lustrous paint and leaching marks to illustrate a referential dissolution of historical interiors and cultural allusions and render luxuriant spaces that appear to collapse in upon themselves.

Bill Viola - The Eye of the Heart

Bill Viola - The Eye of the Heart - by Mark Kidel (59:05) (2003)

In this exclusive look at the artist's private world, Bill Viola talks with remarkable honesty. Director Mark Kidel followed Bill Viola for over two-and-a-half years and accompanied him to places of particular personal significance: the Californian desert and the Basilica di San Francesco in Assisi. The film, which includes carefully chosen extracts from many of Viola's essential works, offers a unique perspective on the artist's work and his sources of inspiration.

Jock Mooney

My sculptural works and installations are comprised of numerous small-scale hand made objects. In the case of my ongoing project 'Inventory', the bombardment of data currently numbers over 1,500 individual elements. Presented en masse to the viewer, these apparently random images are drawn from a wide range of sources, including mythology, religious iconography, historical occurrence, popular culture and mundane reality. Taken from similar sources, my drawings and random lists written off the top of my head, function in parallel to the sculptural works and share the same stream-of-consciousness aesthetic.

David Schnell

David Schnell (pdf alert) usually employs elements of landscape in his paintings. Indeed, first-time viewers might be under the impression that they are looking at landscape paintings, but in reality they are witnessing Schnell's obsessive treatment of space - something he frequently intensifies by painting in large formats that seem to engulf the viewer. Equally striking is Schnell's compelling use of linear perspective and the vanishing point to create pictorial order.

Anthony Rousseau

Kristen Schiele

Kristen Schiele 's dreamy, visionary treatment of architectural space is matched by a resolute sense of composition that pairs folksy expressionism with a clinical facility for manufacturing eerie, otherworldly drama. In short, her paintings feel German.

Arzu Özkal Telhan

My practice can be grouped under the interpretation of body and its relationship to its environment. I make attempts to emancipate the body from social and cultural norms and try to suggest ways to distance one from the limits imposed on the society by totalitarian establishments. I believe that even temporary emancipations can help us be aware of the limits forced on us by the regimes of society. I appear in unfamiliar places where supposedly “I do not belong” according to the tradition, laws, or patriarchal value systems.

100 wallets dropped in front of hidden cameras to test honesty...
...Each of the 100 lost wallets contained $2.10 in real money, a fake $50.00 gift certificate, some miscellaneous items and a clearly written ID card identifying the lost wallet's rightful owner. We were curious as to how honest people would be and wanted to see how different groups would compare to each other. -

Hannah Henry

Hannah Henry began to use photography in her artwork after studying media theory at Harvard. Although her work has a strong formal aesthetic, content is always informed by an awareness of the evolving power of the mediated image. Much of her work involves a process of magnifying low resolution imagery from video footage to web grabs.

The video "Trepidation" (3 min.) is an expanded meditation on the rhythms, structures, and threats in this transitional landscape. It has both been installed alongside the stills and screened as a single monitor presentation.
