Nicky Nodjoumi has developed a signature style -- large scale works, with subdued and unusual color palettes. His paintings often feature images of powerful political leaders taken from the daily newspapers. Nodjoumi then recasts these figures into fantastical settings that ironicize the order of things.

"At first look, Mr. Nodjoumi's politically charged paintings read as a poignant critique of people of 'power', whether religious or governmental, Muslim or American. These obscure narratives intelligently and humorously confront the viewer with the absurdity and hypocrisy behind those characters who control our lives." -- Shirin Neshat
