R S V P is an exploration of internet dating and isolation within contemporary urban dwelling spaces. By secretly filming several residents of an inner-city apartment block as they arrived home from work, Robin Hely captures a very raw sense of loneliness, desperation and exhaustion. Each resident was then edited into a sequence and juxtaposed with the introductory lines from R S V P, Australia's most popular internet dating website. These introductory lines encapsulate what members see as their most favourable attributes, in an attempt to attract potential 'dates'. The process of matching up each line of text from the website with an actual person explores a universal process where we often walk past people in the street and imagine what their situations might be.
