Seizure, created in 2008 by British artist Roger Hiorns, was born out of a derelict council flat on Harper Road, Elephant & Castle. After reinforcing the walls and ceiling and covering them in plastic sheeting, Hiorns poured 90,000 litres of hot copper sulphate solution into the flat from a hole in the ceiling. After a few weeks the temperature of the liquid fell and the crystals began to form. Finally, any remaining liquid was pumped out and recycled. The result was a magical cavern of shimmering blue crystals visited by thousands of curious visitors.
