Leipzig art collective Doppeldenk is made up of Marcel Baer and Andreas Glauch.
The concept of Doppeldenk (’doublethink’) comes from George Orwell’s dystopian novel ‘Nineteen Eighty-Four’ and describes the power of having two contradicting beliefs in one mind simultaneously – and accepting both of them.
It is their strategy to unlock this idea from implying brain-washing, but to propel new and complex forms of thinking.
Marcel and Andreas work with painting, light sculptures, installations and silk screen prints, and make reference to pop-cultural and political icons.
