Theo Altenberg is not just a painter man. He is a man of many talents. In these seemingly random splashes and smears of mixed oily color, the viewer finds himself looking for scenery, people, recognizable forms. Whether this was Altenberg’s intention or not is irrelevant. What matters is that it gives us pause. We look. We see.

'Long Live the New Flesh' wich premiered in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival (11 - 21 February, 2010), is a found footage film in wich existing fragments from horror films are transmogrified into a new film. Long Live the New Flesh deploys a digital technique with painterly quality in which the images literally consume one another and the horror in all its visual power is brought to a natural boiling point. All the ingredients that have secured Provost's experimental art films their international success are once again present here. Provost strips down the imagery of a mass medium, uses it to construct a new visual story beyond the dissection and horror, and allows the viewer to cross every phase of the emotional spectrum.

My current work is concerned with parallels between human emotional states and the mass produced design objects we live with and within. I explore ideas through drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. My experience as a furniture maker working in various shops for the past ten years has started to influence my present work, as I have started to use furniture design itself to discuss and interpret my own interpersonal relationships.

The works of Mahesh Baliga resonate with the rhythm of the immediate. He is a painter of his surroundings. However, he does not make naïve very similitude of what he sees around. Adding a pinch of humor, Mahesh transforms the quotidian into surreal. This surrealism is not a direct outcome of his subconscious meanderings. The socio-political awareness of the artist comes to the fore as certain persisting concerns. He employs a very minimal narrative to establish or deconstruct the very notions of reality, perception and comprehension in art.

Plot: Collapse of PAL tells the story of the PAL signal and its termination. This death sentence, although executed in silence, was a brutally violent act that left PAL disregarded and obsolete. While it might be argued that the PAL signal is dead, it still exists as a trace left upon the new, ‘better’ digital technologies. PAL can, even though the technology is terminated, be found here as a historical form that newer technologies build upon, in- herit or have appropriated from. Besides this, the Angel also realizes that the new DVB signal that has been chosen over PAL is different, but at the same time also inherently flawed.

COREY: While we have different strengths, I think our taste for most things is pretty similar. We generally agree if something is “good” or “Hella good”. We also both have an appreciation of the absurd and the weird little details of life. I think this absurdist bent shows up in both the visual ideas and in the writing of our films.

You can get a good sense of Jeff Sonhouse's prickly wit through the titles of some of his recent New York shows: "Pawnography," "The Panoptic Con." His first solo exhibition in L.A., at Martha Otero, carries a dark, dismissive title, "'Better Off Dead,' Said the Landlord," and hums with humor of a confrontational sort. The show amounts to a face-off between visitors and the outrageous, disarming characters in each of his six new painted portraits.
Who are these masked men? Each stares intently from behind a second skin that has more metaphoric potential than practical function.

In Pacific Standard Time: Jason Schwartzman Celebrates John Baldessari, the Bored to Death star is followed by a huge image of white-bearded conceptual artist John Baldessari, who talks to him from walls. The artist appears after Schwartzman is heard saying to a friend: “Wanna go check out the museum? Are you kidding me? Have a good night. I don’t like art?”
Helmed by director Jesse Dylan (Kicking & Screaming, American Wedding), the almost-five-minute PSA, starring actor Jason Schwartzman, shot at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, promotes the sprawling new arts initiative Pacific Standard Time. The museum extravaganza, beginning in October, will see 60-plus exhibits open in 2011 and 2011. The Getty Trust-funded program showcases the work of Southern California artists and designers between 1945 and 1980, giving context to how L.A. has become the major art capital it is today.

The project was realized in a retail in Dortmund/ Germany during 3 months in Summer 2010. The image of an avalanche was used to compare my installation and my way of working to the transformation of the surrounding environment. The distortion began at one point and then suddenly changed and rearranged the whole space. In combination with the outer appearance of the building, it all appeared folded and wrapped around itself. Inside the avalanche, I used common materials, like wallpapers, cardboard, carpet and mirrors, to relate to everyday spaces. The basement housed another work. Pictures of the room in its former state were projected on an installation composed of fragmented, origami-like shapes. Visitors could control the projections through sound and, in this way, move the space and alter its scale

GLI.TC/H was a simple idea that was hatched upon the notion of folks gathering together and engaging/chatting/debating the issues/theories/concerns of failure, systems, art, && glitches..▄┘┐█▄┘─█┐█▄┘─▀┐─▄┘─
We were able to realize this gathering last year in Chicago. GLI.TC/H 2010 brought people together for five days of glitchy art, hacking/coding workshops, discussions, screenings, lectures, and realtime audio/video performances. All events were free & open to the public and ended up exposing an extremely diverse, amazingly deep, somewhat quirky community.

Vincent Morisset, who is based in Montreal, won worldwide acclaim for his Neon Bible interactive video for Arcade Fire. His experiements in interactive film began before that however. At Click NY the audience were all give little envelopes containing on red square of plastic and one blue one.
Morisset then played us Colorblind Clyde, a film (watch it here) that he shot some years ago for a festival in Montreal in 48 hours. It uses red and blue imagery superimposed on the screen - look through the red square and you see one set of images, the blue and you see another.
